Tapas Pal (Bengali: তাপস পাল) born in 1960 in a remote village in Jalpaiguri district is a Bengali actor from Calcutta, the son of Dr. Ganash Pal of Chandannagar. He is a Member of Parliament having won in the 2009 Indian General Eelections on a Trinamool Congress ticket from Krishnanagar (Lok Sabha constituency). His mother hails from a village called Laudoha in Barddhaman District of West Bengal. He is a famous face of Bengali Drama. He is the first in his family to begin a film career. Pal's first movie appearance was in 1980, in the film "Dadar Kirti". Debasree Roy, a renowned film actress, also started her film career in the same movie. The film was directed by Tarun Majumder, and became an instant hit. Pal received a Filmfare Award for his role in "Saheb". In a few years he became a superstar in the Bengali film media. He acted in many other superhit movies such as "Bhalobasha Bhalobasha" and "Guru Dakshina". The first movie of Madhuri Dixit was with Tapas Pal in the movie "Abodh". Pal has acted in some T.V serials also. So far Tapas Pal has acted in more than 300 movies in his 26-year successful film career. He was two times M.L.A of Alipure.
